So it’s official, The Daily Mail has announced today that ‘Geek Chic’ specs are now back in vogue. Although we’ve never really fallen out of love with them and call us biased, but we will always be in to that brainier-than-brainy look that a thick acetate spec gives off.

There’s always been a style icon sporting the specs whatever the current trend. From Buddy Holly to Jarvis Cocker the solid design has given the wearer that sartorial edge and a more than sufficient fan following.

This year, the specs appeal has spread across both genders with women cashing in when it comes to topping up on their style status. Newly acclaimed designer Victoria Beckham has most recently branched out into optical design and ever the self promoting powerhouse, Team Beckham have stepped out in matchy-matchy self branded glasses.

Contributing editor to Vogue UK and all round fashion darling Alexa Chung has long been known to accessorise her boyish charm with a pair of glasses. Teaming her Dolce and Gabbana star print shirt with heavy tortoiseshell specs, the presenter/model/designer (anything this lady can’t do?!) contrasts her delicate elfin features with some bold and retro frames.

It’s not just the Brit pack that are embracing their stigmatism’s and general lack of 20/20 vision, LA beauties Kim Kardashian and Christina Hendricks have both been papped wearing black acetate frames and Kardashian has recently launched her own eyewear collection.
