Introducing Pantone’s Colour of the Year

//Introducing Pantone’s Colour of the Year

In today’s post, we’re talking about Pantone’s Colour of the Year and sharing an edit of great frames to get in on all the action. Read on to find out more.

Back in December of last year, Pantone released their official Colour of the Year: Living Coral aka (16-1546 TPX). Described as “[A]n animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge”, according to Pantone, Living Coral represents the fusion of modern life. We love this colour because it feels fresh, calming (especially compared to last year’s Ultra Violet), and is flattering for more skin tones.

How does Pantone select its Colour of the Year?

This is a question that gets asked year after year, but the way that Pantone selects its yearly colour is relatively straightforward. Pantone’s colour experts use trend analysis to look at all aspects of life for new colour influences and see which particular one stands out. They examine current global political, socio-economic climates to help guide them as well as looking through films, entertainment, beauty, social media, technology, travel and more.
